A construction worker has been struck and killed while on the job along an interstate highway in Ohio. The State Highway Patrol says 41-year-old Randy Roginski was hit by a passing vehicle late Tuesday night. He'd been standing on the right shoulder alongside a single lane of traffic open on Interstate 271 just north of I-77 near Richfield, 17 miles south of Cleveland in northeast Ohio. |

Connecticut Police Officer Succumbs to Struck-By Injuries
Sgt. Orville Smith, the officer who was struck by an alleged drunk driver while on private duty Saturday, has died from his injuries, police said. Smith, 64, was in the intensive care unit at Bridgeport Hospital when he passed away from “complications from internal injuries,” according to a statement Shelton police released early Wednesday.
Smith was a 39-year-veteran of the Shelton Police Department and was assigned as a patrol supervisor on the day shift.

Third California Highway Patrol Officer Dies of Struck By Injuries
The Templeton CHP Officer who was critically injured Sunday night after being hit by a car in Paso Robles and later died at an area hospital, is the fifth California Highway Patrol officer to die in the line of duty in two months. 47-year-old Officer Brett Oswald, who is a 21-year veteran of the force, was investigating an abandoned car on South River Road when the accident happened.
