Bullets No Longer the Biggest Threat to Police Officers

Officers commonly wear bulletproof vests to protect themselves from bad guys with guns, but they have less protection from those behind the wheel of two-ton lethal weapons. Statistics indicate more officers die in traffic-related incidents than from being shot, which has been borne out in Beaumont, where three out of the last five cops killed in the line of duty were hit by cars.
