Pennsylvania: Green PennDot Service Trucks Going Strong

The local program operates only in Lehigh and Northampton counties, using state and federal funding designated for the service by the Lehigh Valley Transportation Study, a committee that helps PennDOT determine how best to spend state transportation funding in Lehigh and Northampton counties.The light-green tow trucks help stranded motorists get back on the road if possible, or move their vehicles to safety or to avoid blocking lanes, as well as assist police with accident-related traffic control and provide other services. The service is not offered statewide, or even throughout PennDOT's six-county, Allentown-based District 5.
