South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Honored Nationally
Thirty-four-year-old Trooper Andrew Steen was critically injured when he was struck by a car in Sioux Falls while trying to stop a suspected drunken driver last October. He suffered a fractured skull, a brain injury and a broken ankle. He underwent two surgeries to relieve pressure on his brain and was hospitalized for two months.
The American Association of State Troopers has named Steen the 2013 Trooper of the Year.
