Georgia: HERO Operator Dies of August 2015 Injuries

It’s with Great Sadness that I bring to you the news of the Passing of HERO Operator Moses King, who has succumbed to the injuries received while protecting those working the accident scene on the down town connector in August of 2015.

HERO Operator Moses King gave his life while “Protecting our Protectors”. As Fire, EMS and the Police were on the scene working the accident.

This is now the second Line of Duty Death for our Highway Emergency Response Operations unit, although we are very heavy hearted at this time we must prepare for a true HERO’s farewell.

We are soliciting the assistance of those in public safety and those of whom we work side by side each day on these dangerous highways.

Because we are a young and growing Incident Management Team of just over 20yrs., we are still building our HERO Honor Guard team that would normally be called into action for such duties.

As a retired metro area Asst. Fire Chief, I know how we rally on behalf of our fellow brothers in these trying times.

So to all of our Public Safety fellow brothers and those we work alongside, “We are in need of your assistance”.

These are the areas of assistance that would be very helpful and appreciated as we prepare for the services.

A.Honor Guard assistance for Casket Watch on the day of the wake (Wednesday March 23rd 1-9pm and the Service on Thursday 9am -11am)

B.Processional representation encouraged; Fire – EMS – Police – Towing – Other States Incident Management Team.

C.Funeral Route representation at intersection, overpasses etc.(Route will be provided, 8 minute drive from funeral service)

D.An aerial truck and towing Rotator extended at entrance to grave site.

E.Police escorts

Any role that you and your departments or service could play during this true HERO’s home going service would be appreciated.

Please contact me and let me know what you can offer in assistance and also forward this email to friends of other local departments that you know will rally to support those that give their lives on behalf of the public’s safety. Sorry for the late notice but families approval was a must.

I want to thank you in advance for your support and prayers for our HERO family, as we at HERO will continue to put our live on the line in an effort to “Protect our Protectors” !
