Texas: Vigil Honors Memory of SAPD Officer

This weekend, many residents met up at the site where San Angelo Police Sergeant Korby Kennedy was struck and killed last year. Balloons were released in the air and candles were lit for the officer at a vigil on Knickerbocker Road on Saturday.

Dozens came out to say a prayer and honor Kennedy for his service. The officer was struck by a vehicle as he was escorting traffic from last year’s boat races. “Because of what he has put out to the community and did the ultimate sacrifice and laid his life out on the line, it’s imperative that everybody remembers who he is,” Brian Bylsma, with the SAPD, said.

Kennedy’s “End of Watch” memorial sign was also unveiled and will remain on Knickerbocker Road.
