Georgia: Police Officer Struck by Truck

Monday, February 04, 2019

A police officer in Georgia has been struck by a truck near a convenience store southwest of Atlanta.

Union City police told news outlets that a Fairburn officer was hit by the truck early Monday morning. Both cities are in Fulton County.

Fairburn police said their officer was helping another officer in the area when he got into a suspect's truck to try to remove him. Police said at some point the officer was pushed out of the truck and was struck as the suspect drove away.

Police say the truck was found several miles away in Tyrone. Fairburn police say the truck had been rented in the Memphis, Tennessee, area.

Police said the officer's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The officer's name has not been released.
