New Jersey: State trooper knocked to ground by SUV in MetLife Stadium lot OK, suspect arrested

A state trooper trying to move a vehicle from MetLife Stadium's parking lot was knocked to the ground by the SUV as the driver fled the scene Friday night, authorities said.

The uniformed trooper had approached a Jeep Cherokee in the stadium's parking lot around 11:20 p.m., July 20, 2018 advising the driver to move her vehicle, Tpr. Alejandro Goez said.

The suspect, identified as Brittany Burnett, 34, of Rosedale, New York, refused and accelerated her vehicle, knocking the trooper over, Goez said. Other troopers in the area found and placed Burnett under arrest.

The unidentified trooper from MetLife Stadium was treated and released from Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Goez said.

Burnett was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and assault by auto. She was released pending a future court date.
