Oklahoma: Trooper in critical condition after being struck by vehicle
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 35. Lt. Lt. D. Heath Meyer was out of his patrol car putting out stop sticks near I-35 and N 27 in Moore when he was struck by a vehicle.Meyer, 43, was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital. He was listed in critical condition Saturday evening. A 12-year veteran of the patrol, he graduated from the 55th academy in 2005.Philippi said it was not known if the car that was being pursued is the car that struck Meyer.She said the car they were pursuing was stopped, and Dangelo Ladon Burgess, 28, was taken into custody. The patrol is asking for help to find people who: • Observed the pursuit as it traveled from Tecumseh Road in Norman, north on I-35 to I-240, and then eastbound to Pole Road in Oklahoma City. • Were in contact with Burgess at any point Friday before the pursuit.
