NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation Reports for "Motor Vehicle - Struck-by" Incidents

  • South Carolina: Firefighter Struck and Killed on U.S. 17

    Kenneth Stanton, a Firefighter in Sandy Springs (Anderson County) was struck and killed in the Line of Duty this evening, Sunday February 15, 2015. Initial reports are that the crash, on US-17, occurred at around 2100 hours. Stanton, 52, was operating at the scene of a previous crash when he struck by a vehicle. The former Marine and now volunteer Firefighter was immediately treated and transported but succumbed to his injuries.     State police converge on the Massachusetts Turnpike eastbound near Exit 10 about 3 this afternoon after it was reported that a tow truck driver outside his vehicle had been hit by a box truck.

    Montgomery, NY Volunteer Fire Department (Orange County, NY) has announced the passing of veteran Firefighter Charlie Wallace.   • Oklahoma: Authorities Say An OHP Trooper Was Killed In I-40 Wreck

    Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers are mourning the loss of one of their own after a fatal accident. Two troopers, Nicholas Dees and Keith Burch, were struck by a car while investigating a jackknifed semi on westbound I-40 east of Shawnee around 10 p.m. Saturday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the troopers were in the median when a car left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck them. Trooper Dees died on scene, and Trooper Burch was rushed to OU Medical Center.
