• Sign to Honor NY Trooper Killed by Car

  A New York state trooper who was hit by a car and killed in March is being honored. A sign will be dedicated Tuesday in the western New York town of Tonawanda honoring Trooper Kevin Dobson.

• New York Trooper's Family to Receive Grants

  The family of a state trooper struck and killed by a car at a traffic stop is getting $60,000 in education grants from a fund established by the late New York Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner.

• Colorado Woman Accused In Tow Truck Driver's Death In Court

  The woman accused of dragging a tow truck driver to his death will answer charges on Friday. Detra Farries will appear in court at 9 a.m. Farries faces 11 charges including vehicular manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident in the death of Allen Rose.

• Maryland Officer Hurt In JFX Crash Out Of Rehab

  A Baltimore police officer who fell 30 feet after being knocked over an embankment on Interstate 83 last month has been released from rehabilitation. Officer Teresa Rigby was placed into a rehabilitation unit less than a week after the June 21 crash in which a driver lost control and struck the officer's police cruiser.

• New Jersey Woman Receives 15 Years for Role in Trooper’s Death

  On July 8, state Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mellaci Jr., sitting in Freehold, sentenced Diana Hoffman, 30, of Blackwood, to a prison term of 15 years, with a five-year period of parole ineligibility, for her role in the death of New Jersey State Police Trooper Marc K. Castellano on June 6, 2010.

• Service Set for Beaumont, Texas Officer Struck, Killed by Chase Suspect

  The funeral service has been set for a southeast Texas police officer killed when a suspect fleeing authorities in a sport utility vehicle struck his police car. The funeral service for Bryan Mitchell Hebert, the 36-year-old Beaumont officer, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center.

• Colorado: Allen Rose Tow Truck Safety Act

  The Allen Rose Tow Truck Safety Act went into effect July 1, and one man is now facing a misdemeanor because of it.

• CVVFA Receives $297,500 Fire Grant to Launch a Responder Safety Learning Network

  The Federal Emergency Management Agency in the Department of Homeland Security awarded the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association (CVVFA) a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to establish a Responder Safety Learning Network. The network will reach thousands of roadway responders with life safety training to protect them while helping others at highway incidents. The CVVFA is the parent organization of the Emergency Responder Safety Institute that operates ResponderSafety.com
