  • Funeral Planned For Colorado Officer Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver

    Funeral services are planned for an Englewood police officer who was struck and killed by a suspected drunken driver. Officer Jeremy Bitner, 39, was killed Monday just after midnight while conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of West Belleview Avenue and South Broadway. A funeral will be held at the Denver First Church of the Nazarene at 3800 E. Hampden Ave. at 1 p.m. Friday. Following the service, Bitner will be buried at Fort Logan Cemetery.

    A state trooper struck and killed in Mansfield in the line of duty by an allegedly drunken driver has been awarded a posthumous degree from Curry College. College President Kenneth Quigley awarded the degree Sunday to the widow of Sgt. Douglas Weddleton, with the couple's four sons looking on.

  • Bridge Dedicated in Honor of Late Brockton, MA State Police Trooper

    A bridge was dedicated Tuesday in honor of Sgt. Douglas Weddleton, a longtime state trooper from Brockton who was killed June 16, 2010, when he was struck by a vehicle while working a construction detail on Interstate 95. The bridge named in his honor carries Interstate 495 traffic over Interstate 95 in the town of Mansfield. Weddleton was killed by a suspected drunken driver.
