Illinois State Trooper James Sauter was 28 when he died in March 2013 after a semi truck collided with his patrol car along the Tri-State Tollway. On Tuesday, an overpass near the accident site was named for him.

Australia: police officer hit by car thief
A police officer in Adelaide has been hit by a car as he tried to stop it being stolen. The officer has been treated in hospital for minor injuries and a search is underway for the white Nissan involved in the incident, police say.

Massachusetts: Officer struck by vehicle attempting to flee in Bourne
Bourne Police report that on Tuesday at approximately 5:40 p.m., Officer Harrington observed a female known to her as Bethany Dunne, 31, of Sagamore Beach, seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked at the Gulf gas station at the Bourne South Rotary. Officer Harrington had knowledge that Dunne had outstanding warrants for larceny under $250 and assault and battery on an ambulance crew.

Canada: Tow truck driver still in hospital after being struck on Highway 417
A 19-year-old resident of Smiths Falls, Ont., has been charged for having worn tires after she struck a tow truck operator who was responding to a prior collision on Highway 417 in west Ottawa last week.
