Chief Marc Bashoor Appointed to ERSI

Marc S Bashoor, Public Safety Director and Fire Chief in Highlands County Florida was appointed to the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association (CVVFA) Emergency Responder Safety Institute. The Institute serves as an informal advisory panel of public safety leaders committed to reducing deaths and injuries to America's Emergency Responders. Members of the Institute, all highly influential and expert in their fields, are personally dedicated to the safety of the men and women who respond to emergencies on our nation's streets, roads and highways.

Chief Bashoor, in addition to his duties in Florida, serves as the Executive Editor of FireRescue1 and Fire Chief. He has served over 40 years in emergency services, and is currently the Highlands County, Florida, public safety director. Chief Bashoor also spent six years as chief of the Prince George's County (Maryland) Fire/EMS Department and five years as emergency manager in Mineral County, West Virginia. Chief Bashoor assisted the NFPA with fire service missions in Brazil and China, and has presented at many industry conferences and trade shows. He has contributed to several industry publications.

He has taught for us, appeared in video productions and was the first fire chief in the nation to enroll his entire department in the Emergency Responder Learning Network while at Prince George's County. In each department, he has made meaningful changes to improve the safety of the people under his command as they work to help others on the roads."
