Connecticut: Construction worker struck by car; seriously injured

A construction worker was struck by a car while performing roadwork in Westport, police say.

The incident happened Tuesday night on Post Road West after 9 p.m.

Police say the driver was headed east towards Fairfield when she struck the worker who was outside of his truck. Post Road West from Kings Highway South to Hills Lane near the Norwalk line was shut down for several hours Tuesday after the incident.

The woman who struck the worker remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

The road was reopened after police investigated.

The worker remains in serious but stable condition at the hospital.
