Indiana: Tesla Strikes Fire Apparatus at Crash Scene – 2civilians critically injured - Firefighters OK

Thursday, January 2, 2020

Two vehicle occupants suffered serious injury Sunday morning after rear-ending a Cloverdale Township (Indiana) Volunteer Fire Department Truck. The fire truck was in the eastbound lanes of the interstate responding to an earlier wreck when a Tesla sedan ran into the rear of the truck, causing heavy damage to both vehicles. Reports from the police and fire scanner indicated that no police were yet on the scene to control traffic following the first incident. Furthermore, reports from the scene indicated the driver and passenger of the Tesla were both unconscious and entrapped. There were no injuries to firefighters.

Both occupants of the Tesla were extricated. While their conditions are unknown, a brief report from the Indiana State Police said the accident involved “serious personal injury.”
ISP also indicated the eastbound lanes are currently shut down, with traffic being diverted at Putnamville Exit 37, taking motorists onto State Road 43, then U.S. 40.
There is currently no information available on the original crash.
