    Minnesota state troopers responded to nearly 900 roadway incidents within 30 hours from early Thursday into Friday.   • Minnesota: Semi Plows into Squad Cars on I-94

    A Rogers police SUV, a Minnesota State Patrol squad car, a tow truck and a jackknifed semi all had their lights flashing. 200 yards away, another squad car was warning drivers of the crash ahead. But all of those precautions couldn't stop a semi before it smashed into a police officer and state trooper Monday night on Interstate 94 in Rogers, Minnesota.   • Minnesota: SUV Smashes into St. Paul Fire Station; No One Injured

    An SUV crashed into a St. Paul fire station late Friday evening, though no one was injured. The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. at Fire Station 1, located at 1000 W. Seventh St. in the city's West End. The station, at West Seventh Street and Randolph Avenue, is connected to the fire department's headquarters.

  • Minnesota Trooper Nearly Hit at Scene of Crash

    A Minnesota trooper was nearly hit by a car while directing traffic at a crash on Highway 169 Monday morning. The trooper was responding to a rollover crash on northbound Highway 169 at County Road 21 in Shakopee around 8:30 a.m. The video, caught on MnDOT's Traffic Management Cameras, shows the trooper wearing a bright yellow jacket, on the side of the highway directing oncoming traffic as other cars merge onto highway to avoid an accident scene.

  • Minnesota Deputy Struck by Driver Recovering

    A Wabasha County sheriff's deputy struck by a suspected drunken driver has been released from the hospital. Sheriff's officials say the deputy was on foot patrol early Saturday in Elgin and tried to stop a man he suspected was driving drunk.

  • Minnesota: Officer Struck by Alleged Drunk Driver

    A St. Cloud High School teacher was arrested on charges of DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries. Police said Ryan Chase, 26, was arrested on his own block last week while they were working on a separate investigation in the neighborhood. They said Chase sped by even though they shined a flashlight at him, and clipped an officer with his SUV. Officials said the officer is going to be OK.

  • Minnesota: State Patrol Officer Injured when Vehicle Rear-Ends Squad

    A Minnesota State Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries after a vehicle hit his squad in St. Paul, the State Patrol said Saturday. Troopers were called to check a stalled vehicle that was blocking the left lane for the eastbound Interstate 94 ramp to southbound U.S. 61. No one was inside the vehicle.   • Minnesota: Washington County Road Worker Hit by Car, Expected to be OK

    A Washington County public works employee hit by a passing car last week is expected to recover. The employee was part of a crew removing snow from a bridge over Browns Creek near County Road 5 and Minnesota 96, just north of Stillwater, on Thursday afternoon. He has no broken bones and does not appear to have a head injury.

  • Minnesota: State Patrol Squad Hit by Vehicle on I-94; in Minneapolis Trooper Injured

    A Minnesota State Patrol squad car was struck by another vehicle, injuring the trooper, during a traffic stop Friday evening on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis. Trooper Jared Sturgill, 40, of Golden Valley was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered to be life-threatening.   • VIDEO: 4 Minnesota State Patrol Squads Hit by Passing Cars

    The Minnesota State Patrol says 4 of its squads were hit by passing cars this past weekend. All 4 troopers involved in the crashes escaped serious injury.
