California: Tow truck driver killed in Sun Valley by suspected drunk driver

A tow truck driver was struck and killed by a suspected drunken motorist today in Sun Valley. The motorist, driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound on Glenoaks Boulevard, hit the tow truck driver and his vehicle about 2:15 a.m. near Peoria Street while the tow truck driver was conducting a pickup, according to Detective Doug Larkin of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, Larkin said, and the tow truck driver died while being rushed to a hospital. “There is a DUI investigation that is going on,” the detective said, refusing to give any further details of the fatal crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau at (818) 644-8000.
