16 Law Enforcement Struck By Deaths in 2010 a Grim Reminder of Roadway Danger

Of the 73 traffic-related fatalities in 2010,16 were struck and killed by automobiles while outside of their vehicles, says the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund Inc. Research Bulletin. The report issued annually by our friends at NLEMF sadly noted that overall law enforcement deaths spiked to 160 officers this year. Firearms and vehicle related deaths were on the rise. The Report published annually says "The research and analysis conducted by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund helps to bring widespread attention to the dangers officers continue to face and, as importantly, helps point to areas where we need to do a better job in protecting our officers."
