Colorado: Driver who allegedly struck & killed state trooper makes first court appearance

The retired Army Colonel accused of fatally hitting a state patrol trooper is due in court today in Castle Rock. 52-year-old Eric Henderson is facing multiple charges in the death of 33-year-old trooper Jaimie Jursevics, who was run down Sunday night on I-25. Henderson is being held on a $1 million bond.

Law enforcement from all over the state paid respects Tuesday. They lined the 300 mile route as Jursevics’ family was escorted from their home in Utah to Denver.

Investigators said Henderson was drunk when he hit her and then kept going. He’s facing charges of vehicular homicide, failure to remain at the scene of a deadly accident, driving under the influence, and careless driving causing death.
