Louisiana: Jefferson Parish SO deputy hit by another deputy while directing traffic outside the Superdome

According to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman, the deputy who was hit was directing traffic at Loyola Avenue and Girod Street around 4:30 p.m. after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers v. New Orleans Saints Game.

The deputy on the motorcycle was part of the Tampa Bay motorcade, JPSO said.

The Buccaneers' buses were leaving the Superdome, and when the convoy made a turn, the deputy on the motorcycle who was trailing the buses crashed into the deputy directing traffic.

The deputy who was hit was taken to the hospital with a head injury, and doctors believe the injury is not life-threatening. JPSO said the other deputy was knocked off his motorcycle but did not sustain any injuries.

The identities of the officers involved in the crash have not yet been released. Both were working paid details at the time.
