Arkansas: Jonesboro officer hit by car, injured while responding to crash

Police are investigation after a Jonesboro officer was hit by a car Monday night while assisting with a crash. It happened at the intersection of Caraway Road and Glenn Place.

Officer Weston Gates was out of his vehicle walking across the road to investigate a vehicle that had run into a ditch when he was struck by a passing vehicle. We do not know the extent of the officer’s injuries yet, but he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the officer did stop at the scene after the accident. No charges have been filed. It was raining at the time of the accident.
