North Carolina: Charlotte Mecklenburg PD officer struck by car during foot chase

An officer was struck by a vehicle on I-77 Monday night while chasing a suspect on foot, police say. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the officer sustained non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a car on northbound I-77 near Clanton Road around 10 p.m. Monday. Traffic was backed up in the area due to police activity near the Clanton Road exit. Part of northbound I-77 at Clanton Road reopened around 12:30 a.m.
