Massachusetts: Marblehead School Crossing Guard Nearly Struck By SUV: Police

Marblehead police reminded drivers to use caution near school crosswalks after a guard was nearly struck by a sport utility vehicle on Jersey Street last week. The crossing guard was at the intersection of Shepard Street during the Friday morning commute about to direct a student a walk across the road when a black SUV sped through and nearly hit her as she stood in the middle of the road.

Police said sun glare likely blinded the driver. Police issued a "special appeal for safety" to drivers. "Keep those sun visors down, sunglasses on and a foot near the brake pedal," police said.
