Arkansas: Firefighters Injured after Apparatus Struck at Crash Scene

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

Four Arkansas firefighters were injured after their apparatus was struck by a tractor-trailer while working at a previous accident Monday night.

Marion crews had responded to a crash at around 7 p.m. near mile-marker 24, along Interstate 55, the department said in an online update. As firefighters were clearing the scene, a tractor-trailer collided with their apparatus.

Four firefighters were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, and they were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer also was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the department.

As of 3 a.m. Tuesday, three of the firefighters had been released from the hospital. The fourth firefighter was still in the hospital for further tests, the department added.
