KNOX COUNTY, Ill. — Illinois State Police released the name of the Knox County deputy who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, April 29, 2022, during a vehicle pursuit.
Deputy Nicholas D. Weist, 34, was struck and killed by a vehicle as he deployed spike strips during a vehicle pursuit of an armed suspect, ISP said.
He was also a volunteer for the Viola Fire Department. Weist is survived by his wife and children.
