(IA)(04-17-2023) Tow truck driver killed by passing jeep while helping stranded bus, go-fund-me established

SCOTT CO., Iowa — A tow truck driver died on Monday after being hit while on duty.

Mark Muske leaves behind two boys. Mark worked for Tegeler Wrecker and Crane and was an Army Desert Storm veteran.

Reports from the Iowa State Patrol revealed a bus broke down on the side of I-80 in Scott Co. by the 302 mile marker and a tow truck was called for help.

When the tow truck arrived, the driver got out of the car to assist the bus, and a Jeep Patriot struck the driver.

Charges in the case are still pending and officers are actively investigating the crash.

Iowa Tow Truck operator Mark Muske of Tegeler Wrecker & Crane - Cedar Rapids. Mr. Muske was a United States Army Veteran having served in Operation Desert Storm and was the father of two sons. Mr. Muske is the 12th United States Emergency Responder struck in the past 45 days or an emergency responder struck and killed every 3.75 days.
