(KY)(04-25-2023) Tow Operator struck and killed at the scene of a disabled vehicle

On Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, at 1032 hours, Nelson County Dispatch advised units of an injury collision near the 17 Mile Marker on the Bluegrass Parkway. The collision involved a wrecker and an overturned van. Multiple units arrived on the scene, where one subject was found deceased. Preliminary investigation reveals that a wrecker service from Madisonville, KY was westbound in the emergency lane attempting to load a Dodge pickup truck. A vehicle operated by Jonathan Burba, 41 years old of New Haven KY made contact with the Dodge pickup and the wrecker, hitting Barry Lynn, 72 years old of Madisonville, KY. Burba’s vehicle overturned and came to a rest in the median. Lynn succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The collision is being investigated by Deputy WIll Purdom.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Nelson County Fire and Rescue and Nelson County Coroner’s Office.
