(GA) Carrollton police officer dies a year after being struck by car on duty

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Nearly a year after he was hit by a car and badly injured, a Carrollton police officer has died, the department said on Wednesday.

Condolences are pouring out for the family, friends and coworkers of Dustin Krish.

“While we are heartbroken on earth, what a celebration Dustin is having in Heaven,” the department said. “Chief [Joel] Richards put it best…..Dustin was the best of us. He was unwavering in his duty, courageous, and faithful until the end.”

Krish was airlifted to the hospital on June 11, 2025, after he was struck by a car while directing traffic near the Ingles on Highway 27.

The department has been providing updates on his condition ever since. He underwent months of speech and physical therapy. Two months after the accident, Krish’s sister-in-law said he had been declared “minimally conscious.”
