(TX) Mabank fire chief killed after being hit by vehicle while directing traffic

MABANK, Texas (KLTV) - The City of Mabank fire chief was killed Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle while directing traffic.

According to Texas DPS spokesperson Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, Mabank Fire Chief Charles Woodard was directing traffic after the Mabank Rodeo when he was struck by a Chevrolet and died.

Bettie Busby, who worked at the Mabank Rodeo concession stand Saturday, said she had known Woodard for years.

“I was at the Methodist pre-school when Charlie came through,” Busby said. “The whole community loves him.”
