(CT) Family of tow truck driver killed in Bloomfield crash identify him as father of 2
The family of a tow truck operator struck and killed in Bloomfield Tuesday night wants people to remember him for more than how he died.
His family identified him as Alexander John Ramos, a hardworking father, friend, and someone they say was loved by everyone who knew him. Police have not yet publicly identified him.
The Bloomfield Department was called to the 300 block of Tunxis Avenue around 7:37 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian with injuries, according to police.
When they arrived, they found a man, who was identified as Ramos by his family, lying unresponsive in the roadway near a tow truck. The man was confirmed to be the tow truck operator and had severe head trauma, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they found the other vehicle on its roof on Tunxis Avenue just south of the scene. The driver of that vehicle remained at the scene and was later taken to the hospital for evaluation. The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is investigating the crash.
NBC Connecticut spoke online with Ramos' sister, Athena, who said her brother was a hard worker, a friend, and a father.
