North Carolina: Impaired driver slams into Concord fire truck

Emergency crews responded to two crashes on Interstate 85 in Concord early Tuesday morning. One of those accidents involved a Concord fire truck. Concord firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in the northbound lane between Bruton Smith Boulevard and Poplar Tent Road around 1 a.m.

According to a press release from the department, two engine companies and a Ladder Company responded to handle the crash. The Ladder Company and troopers with the NC State Highway patrol were blocking the inside three lanes and conducting final cleanup of the first accident when a BMW sideswiped a Concord fire engine, the release said.
