(AR)(12-07-2021) Fire Chief dies after being struck by vehicle

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A Northeast Arkansas fire chief succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a passing car.

Arkansas State Police say the incident happened at 6:18 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, on U.S. Highway 63 south of Sedgwick.

Wesley E. Adams, 61, of Walnut Ridge was directing traffic around a 3-vehicle crash when a southbound 2015 Toyota Corolla struck him.

The Toyota then collided with a 1984 Ford CL 9000 truck.

According to Sedgwick Assistant Fire Chief Heath Ring, Adams was airlifted to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro where he died the following day.
