(KY) Man killed by vehicle on I-64 in Ashland while trying to fix his car

ASHLAND, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating after troopers found a man dead on the shoulder of I-64 in Ashland on Saturday night.

Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, troopers with KSP Post 14 in Ashland were dispatched to the 185-mile marker on I-64 in response to a report of a pedestrian who was struck in the area.

On Sunday, state police said the man who had been hit was identified as 78-year-old Hubert E. Mosby. He was found lying on the shoulder of the highway near his vehicle.

A preliminary investigation showed that Mosby had been trying to fix something wrong with his vehicle when he was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.

The deadly hit-and-run crash remains under investigation by KSP. Anyone with information is asked to call KSP Post 14 at (606) 928-6421.
