CONGRESSMAN PATRICK MURPHY NAMED HONORARY CHAIRMAN OF THE CVVFA EMERGENCY RESPONDER SAFETY INSTITUTE
(Washington, DC) Congressman Patrick Murphy (PA-8) was named today as Honorary Chairman of the Emergency Responder Safety Institute. Serving his first term, Murphy was chosen because of his commitment to the safety of emergency responders who are called to provide fire, rescue and law enforcement services on the highways.
As a national leader he recognizes the safety of emergency responders is important to the police, fire and rescue community in the 8TH Congressional District of Pennsylvania as well as to the rest of the country said Marshall Younker, CVVFA president. We are thrilled he is our Honorary Chairman.
Shortly after his election in 2006, Congressman Murphy established an outreach program to the public safety community in his district. As Honorary Chairman, Murphy will serve as an advocate for the safety of responders who are on highways providing emergency services. His advocacy will assist in informing the motoring public to use care when approaching police, fire, and emergency medical services personnel parked along the roadway helping others.
Prior to his election to Congress, Murphy served with distinction as an officer in the United States Army. He was deployed twice overseas including a tour of duty in Iraq.
