NJ Fire and EMS Crews Run for Cover From Drunk Driver

Basking Ridge Firefighters and EMS crews treating to an injured woman Saturday night had to dive out of the way of drunk driver who was fleeing from a State Police pursuit. Drunk Steven Munic, 43 of Hawley, Pa., was arrested Saturday and faces a slate of drug charges after he allegedly barreled his car through an accident and sent rescue teams from Basking Ridge Fire Co. and EMS running for cover. Cops stopped Munic when they noticed he was driving down the highway without one of his rear tires. Munic fled from the troopers, who began to pursue him, but the officers pulled back when they were informed of the accident Basking Ridge crews were working. Munic's vehicle smashed through the scene around 1830 riding up the shoulder of the highway before colliding with the back of a parked Basking Ridge ambulance. Cops quickly descended on the scene and arrested Munic, The ambulance was unoccupied at the time. Munic is charged with eluding police, resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of narcotics and driving while intoxicated and is in the slammer.
