Officers remember Colorado trooper allegedly struck, killed by drunk driver

A Colorado Highway Patrol Trooper who grew up in Rapid City and was killed in the line of duty last week was laid to rest Monday in Colorado.

Her husband carried their 8-month-old little girl in a procession past the closed casket. The Fremont County Sheriff's Office shared a powerful picture of the baby surrounded by CSP gear.

Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, 33, was killed on the night of November 15 on Interstate 25 when she was struck by a suspected drunken driver.

At her funeral, Trooper Jursevics was described as "tenacious" and "a beacon of life", according to local news channel Denver7.

Her memorial service was held Monday at the Denver First Church in Englewood, Colorado.

"She was a beacon of life to all she knew and was an outstanding trooper", said Chief Scott Hernandez, of the Colorado State Patrol. Henderson was released Wednesday after posting $500,000 bond.

His passenger Craig Whitehill told investigators he had attended the Denver Broncos game with Henderson, who drank at least six beers while they were together over the course of the day. He added, however, that nothing about Henderson's driving concerned him.
