Highway Safety SOP's

Steve Austin and I have been talking with a great many people over the past few months. One of the many things we have been promising is a set of guidelines that all of you can use to develop highway safety procedures.

We here at Respondersafety.com are pleased to announce the availability of our model Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Safety Positioning While Operating In or Near Moving Traffic. We offer these for your consideration and use.

Ron Moore, Training Manager for the fire department in Plano, Texas developed this critical new document. We offer these for use by emergency responders throughout North America. Mr. Moore has devoted a great deal of time and effort to creating a set of "how to" procedures for operating on highways.

Plano is at the intersection of a number of major state and interstate highways. Under the leadership of Chief William Peterson, the department has been a leader and innovator for a wide variety for fire and emergency operating procedures.

We here at Respondersafety.com urge you to download this document and review it with your department members. You may wish to use it as is, or modify it to meet your local needs. Please send us your feedback. We consider this to be another important step toward meeting the intent of our long-term, highway safety project. We are working to cut the number of death and serious injuries suffered by emergency service workers on the highways.

This is one more effort by our team to help you stay alive on America's highways. Please take our message to heart and download these newly developed standard operating procedures. Please stay safe.
