Michigan: Trooper Chad Wolf fatal crash investigation in hands of prosecutor

State police completed their investigation related to the crash incident that killed State Trooper Chad Wolf Aug. 28.

The Oakland Press confirmed the case is now in possession of Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, who is reviewing the investigation for possible criminal charges.

Wolf, a 38-year-old married father of four from Fenton, died after being accidentally struck and pinned beneath a trailer towed by a 72-year-old Waterford man. Wolf was patrolling on a motorcycle about 6:30 a.m. when the motorist switched lanes abruptly to take a ramp merging onto Interstate 75 north in Clarkston.

The driver continued several miles before pulling over at a rest area in Springfield Township where he found Wold still alive beneath the trailer.

Medics rushed the trooper to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc Township where he died later the same day becoming the 52nd state trooper to die in the line of duty since the agency's founding.
