Wisconsin "Move Over Law" applies to waterways

If you’re heading out on the boat this summer, there’s a new law you should know about. Wisconsin’s “Move Over Law” that protects roadside emergency responders is expanding to the state’s waterways. The DNR says the law adds a slow-no-wake buffer within 100 feet of patrol boats with emergency lights flashing. It’s all in an effort to create a safety buffer.

Scott Thiede with the Wisconsin DNR says, “This is another slow-no-wake restriction designed to promote safety, not only of the public, but the operators of these emergency vehicles and patrol boats.” The DNR will be working all summer to educate and inform boaters about the change.
