Illinois: 'Slow Down to Get Around' matter of life, death

As of Jan. 1, an addendum to Scott’s law will be in effect in Illinois requiring motorists to slow down when they are approaching recycling trucks. This is an addition to the current legislature that requires vehicles to slow down when approaching garbage trucks. The law requires that a driver change lanes (if possible) or slow down below the posted speed limit, or risk a penalty of up to $10,000. Illinois is the 10th state to enact this potentially life-saving legislation.
