CHEYENNE WY April 6 2015. An ongoing spring storm and crash cleanup efforts kept a large portion of Interstate 80 closed Friday following a series of pileups that injured 27 people Thursday. With all the bad news there was a bright spot. Good news is there were no fatalities and that the agency’s initiatives made a positive difference: 1) 20 minutes before the first accident WYDOT’s TMC lowered the variable speed limits to 45mph, and 2) due to the size of the accident the response involved many agencies who cited TIM training as the reason they were able to work so well together.

Two state troopers severely in the line of duty have been honored with awards for bravery. The Colorado State Patrol awarded Trooper Bellamann Hee and Trooper Eugene Hofacker Purple Hearts for their actions in 2014.
